Ranger's Apprentice Movie Looking Positive

In a recent interview with USA Today John Flanagan (Ranger's Apprentice author) said that the Ranger's Apprentice movie is looking good and even names who he would like to see play Halt. See quote below

"What is the status of the film adaptation of the series? Who are some people you think could star in the movie?
I can't say too much, but it's looking good - better than it has for months, in fact. Just let everyone keep their fingers crossed. Casting? I have only two favourites for roles. I'd love to see Eric Bana as Halt. He'd have to be greyed up and scruffied for the role, of course. (Is 'scruffied' a word?) And I think Baron Arald could be played perfectly by an english TV actor called Martin Clunes. He's appeared in a wonderful series called Doc Martin. I don't know if it ever made it to the US."

See the entire interview and check out the first chapter of The Royal Ranger (The final installment in the Ranger's Apprentice series).
